FLAMBOYANT TREE PROJECT

Flamboyant Tree Project is an adopt-a-tree program which aims to plant colorful flowering ornamental trees in the school surroundings and then to the adjacent communities of the school. Through a minimal donation of two hundred pesos (P200), donors can adopt a seedling of an ornamental tree, give name to it, and be an adoptive parent of that tree which will be validated through a certificate. The adopted tree will be geotagged and embedded in a this webpage.

OBJECTIVES

The activity aims to promote environmental awareness and instill among people their social and environmental obligations as citizens of the Earth. Through shared responsibilities, the sustainable management of the tree planting activity can be achieved through the consolidated efforts of the school, communities, government, civil society, and the private sectors.

Specifically, the activity aims to:

  1. enhance aesthetically the school surroundings as well as the surroundings of the adjacent communities;

  2. encourage the communities to participate in the environmental protection actions;

  3. inculcate among the participants the value of community service, environmental responsibility and stewardship, environmental protection and the preservation of the natural ecosystems; and

  4. develop among the participants and the residents of the barangay the awareness about the benefits that trees offer to the environment and the organisms inhabiting it.

PROJECT PHASES

This project has 3 phases. These phases are the following:

  • Phase1- Tree planting of flame trees around the school oval. Phase 1 targets to plant 50 flame trees in the school premises. Proceeds of phase 1 will be used for the construction of Seedling Nursery

  • Phase 2- Tree planting of approximately 25 flame trees in the road leading to the school.

  • Phase 3- Planting of LGU selected ornamental trees at designated areas recommended by the local government. This phase aims to plant at least 425 trees in different areas.


Other sources of funds will come from the generated funds earned through the selling of excess seedlings. Proceeds of this IGP will be used in the construction of seedling nursery, maintenance of school website and maintenance of school grounds.
